Among the most coveted race wins in the annual TT road race festival, the Superstock event attracted the world's premier road racers. Dunlop used all his skill and the undoubted performance of the new Ninja ZX-10R to pull ahead of Guy Martin and John McGuinness respectively to claim his second and Kawasaki's ninth ever TT win with a majestic 129.709mph average fastest lap.
Setting a scorching early pace around the 37 3/4 mile circuit, Dunlop enjoyed a perfect pit stop to rejoin the race with a second lap margin of some 13 seconds giving him the chance to dictate the pace of the event.
Despite the late start, the race was without incident and Dunlop had the immense satisfaction of riding against his main rivals, Guy Martin and John McGuinness and proving both his credentials as one of the most promising road racers of his generation and the race winning potential of the recently launched Ninja ZX-10R.
Speaking after the podium celebrations, Sales and Marketing Manager for Kawasaki Motors UK, Michael Johnstone said: "What a great start for Michael and Kawasaki in this, the 100th anniversary of the creation of the TT mountain circuit. Michael's Street Sweep Kawasaki certainly swept to victory. We congratulate him, and his team, on behalf of all Kawasaki fans, the factory in Japan and the entire UK dealer network. To achieve his second and our ninth TT win as a manufacturer brings the tempting prospect of a tenth success that little bit closer"
