The Multistrada V4 S Full

Chris's In-Depth Ride Review

We handed our Ducati Multistrada V4 S Full demo bike over to our Motorcycle Sales Advisor, Chris, for an in-depth ride review.

Scroll down for a good read of his thoughts about this fully-loaded bike...

A FAIR TEST

"I was excited to get my hands on the new Multistrada V4S Full demo as soon as the bike landed in-store! I had previously ridden all of the other Multistrada V4 models, so I had a good idea of what to expect. My previous rides had been in the height of summer, in an attempt to get the most out of the bike as I could, so I wanted to test this model in everyday conditions and see what the beastly V4 engine is like to live with."

FULLY LOADED

"This bike is fully loaded with all the kit.. hence the name 'Full'! It comes with heated grips, heated seats, radar cruise control, blind spot monitoring, panniers, a center stand, electronic suspension, a TFT screen, an adjustable screen, a quick shifter, customisable riding modes, and an Akrapovic exhaust. This bike really is dripping with the most up-to-date technology to keep you safe and comfortable."

PLENTY OF OPTIONS

"Hands down, for me, the best thing on the bike aside from the V4 engine that I will get to later, is the electronic suspension and the riding modes. These riding modes are linked to the suspension for full customisation. I really could go on all day about how smooth and comfortable the bike is! With the different settings, you can set-up the riding modes ahead of your ride. You can have a full range programmed in, starting at ‘soft mile-munching tourer’ to a ‘B-road blasting sports bike’. The Ducati dash is so easy to use, and you can also change the modes while riding."

ACCESSIBILITY

"Once I had set the bike up in touring mode with the suspension set to the softest, I also set the sport mode with the hardest suspension setting, so I could really test the full range. The bike has a nice low seat height and is well-balanced, so filling up is no problem, and moving the bike around in general is very easy for such a large bike. This balancing also helps with low-speed control. It does also benefit from having an adjustable seat height, with low and high seats also available, so it is very customisable."

EASY TO RIDE

"I headed off towards the back roads of Wingham and I instantly felt at home on the bike. The ergonomics are fantastic! A flat seat, plenty of leg room, and wide bars make this possibly the most comfortable bike I’ve ever ridden. The handling was light and easy, the throttle response is crisp, and the quick shifter is so good I found myself hardly using the clutch to go up or down gears throughout the ride. Long gone are the old Ducatis with heavy clutches and lumpy engines… This bike is so easy and smooth to ride and the suspension absorbs all of the nasty potholes around the lanes. The bike’s wide bars give you lots of leverage to flick it from corner to corner with ease. Once I switched riding modes to sport, I felt the bike became more dynamic. You can certainly feel an instant change in the whole bike, making it feel even lighter. Brilliant!"

THE ENGINE

"Now onto the bikes party piece… The 170 bhp 1100cc V4 Granturismo engine. Ducati is very proud of this engine and the hard work that has gone into it, and so they should be! Riding the bike through town was easy and effortless as I left it in 3rd gear, and there was no low-down chugging. It pulls like a train from 3000rpm, but what is astonishing is just how smoothly it does it. You really don’t have to change gear that often because of the amount of power available from low-down, all the way up to the top of the rev range. It almost became a game seeing how long I could stay in one gear! When you do want to get moving, it really is warp-speed fast."

VERSATILITY

"Once you get to the twisty bits and open the bike up, it completely changes from a soft, easy-to-ride touring bike to an eye-watering fast sports bike. I’m sure that around most of the UK roads it will keep up with almost anything! It’s quite clear that the Multistrada is going to be fast and handle well, as Ducati is well-known for making brilliant sports bikes, but what impressed me the most is how easy and comfortable the bike is to ride for long periods of time. If you want a bike to do both fast and comfortable, then this will certainly tick both of those boxes for you."

SAFETY FEATURES

"After two hours out and about, I headed back towards Ashford, and I chose the motorway to find out how good the blind-spot monitoring and radar cruise was. They both work very well! The blind-spot monitoring is very accurate and doesn’t just flash at you the whole time, and the radar cruise is a big improvement on standard cruise control. You can set the distance you want to for the vehicle in front, so you can customise the settings your own way."

THE VERDICT

"Ducati’s Multistrada V4 is as good as it gets for a tech-filled, fast, and comfortable do-it-all bike. Ducati really has gone to town with this bike and spared no expense to make sure everything is as good as it can be. Starting at £20,495 for the entry-level V4S to £24,345 for the bike I tested, you do pay for all of this excellence, but if you want the best bike out there, then it’s definitely worth every penny! But don’t just take my word for it, book a test ride and see how great this bike is for yourself!"

We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders may pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed.
