True Heroes Racing: Revving Up

On your marks... Get set...
We are continuing our True Heroes 2022 racing story series with the next step of the journey. Once the motorcycles have been collected they then have to undergo various changes to get them race-ready for the track. It is also around this section of the timeline that the riders and relating race numbers have been revealed.

A few tweaks here and there...
Shedding that road skin
The first step of the process is taking off the stock Panigale fairing. Removing this for racing fairing can decrease the weight, allow aesthetic customisation and also make the trackside modification significantly faster.
Strong independent brake
Brake lines are replaced for independent brake line fixtures so that each of the callipers has its own specific brake line. This allows the rider to still have access to a single brake if the counterpart fails for any reason.
Say goodbye to your ABS
ABS is disabled and completely inhibited. However, due to racing regulations the unit is left on the bike for weight specification. Switching off the ABS allows the rider to fully immerse him or herself in the win hungry attitude.
Small but necessary
Other customisations to the bike are things like the removal of horns, pillion footpegs, number plates, number plate stems and other road legal requirements. These amendments decrease the weight of the bike a little bit as well.
Add a little jazz
On top of things being taken off the motorcycle - the team will also add certain products such as racing footpegs, race discs and callipers. These products are specifically engineered for racing and high-speed use.
Riders for 2022
Dave "Scrawn" Mackay - #22
Mackay is a British Army veteran, who served a complete 22-year career - hence his chosen race number. Riding with the team since 2015, he has come a huge distance in his racing career and has now also taken on the duty of a mentor within the Grassroots programme.
Dave "Salty" Sellers - #61
Sellers is a Royal Navy Veteran who has race experience in both short circuit and road racing, stretching over more than a decade. Retiring from racing after competing in the Isle of Man TT in 2016 & 2017, Dave returned to racing as a wildcard rider in Assen for the team in 2018.
Leon Wilton - #15
Currently serving in the British Army, Leon has been representing the Army for almost a decade now in the Military Inter-Service Road Racing Championships. Leon is now taking his rightful place in BSB, gaining huge respect from the military.
Charlie White - #44
Currently, Charlie is a serving member of the Royal Marines, who in 2021 became the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Road Racing Champion. Due to his unmissable talent, Charlie is now taking his place in BSB and is also gaining huge respect from the military.
Chris Ganley - #89
Chris is a British Army Veteran who shows remarkable determination. After losing his arm in 2014 and soon after going into rehabilitation, he began racing in 2017 as a focus post-injury. He now holds club level racing experience and looks forward to the national level step up in 2022.
Chris Duggan - #3
Recently discharged from service due to the loss of his right leg - Chris is a Parachute Regiment Veteran. Duggan has been mentored by Dave Mackay and got onto the track for the first time in 2020. Now having his full ACU licence, Chris took to the grid for his first ever race in 2021.
