Tiger 1200 GT Pro Review

"All the power in the world..."

The Tiger 1200 GT Pro was built for the very best of road adventures, designed with fantastic comfort and breath-taking power to keep your adrenaline pumping all day long. We handed over our demo bike over to Ryan, our Aftersales Advisor, to really get to grips with this new model.

The Tiger 1200 Review - Ryan Insight Engine, Power and Torque

How was the engine, power and torque?

"The Tiger 1200 GT Pro is unbelievably fast. It packs an almighty kicking engine with snappy aggressive power and punchy torque energy that'll give even the experienced rider an adrenaline rush. You get six silky smooth gears and awesome functionality built-in, like the hydraulic clutch, shaft drive and quick-shifter - which combined, make this an unfogettable riding experience. I like the simplicity of the engine and the way Triumph has mapped the power output and the engine gives the characteristics of a twin with the muscle of a triple, which would be a blessing off-road. The fuel tank was a bonus - I found I filled up and could quite easily forget about fuel for the remainder of the week."

How was the handling, brakes and riding position?

"This model is surprisingly good at handling for a larger bike. Usually large bikes like this feel a little tractor-like to move around, but this felt light and agile. Out on the road, filtering was pretty simple - the width of the model was easy to manoeuvre and you can effortlessly get through traffic safely. I also liked the seat height, a noticeable height which gave you fantastic visibility of what's ahead.

I did do a little riding with my misses on the back too - she found it especially comfortable in comparison to my current ride, a Tiger 800. She liked the seat height as it let her feel more involved in her surroundings and the ride itself.  She also liked the amount of grabbing rail available."

The Tiger 1200 Review - Ryan Insight Technology and features

What technology/features does it have and was there anything you found particularly useful?

"The bike itself has quite a range of technology, one of which was the feature allowing you to change the name on the welcome message (class touch from Triumph)! I really felt that made the bike your own, the fact it welcomed you onto the saddle. The bike was packed with other premium features too like the quick shifter, dampening and cruise control, which I suppose you come to expect from Triumph in today's top-end range. Due to riding in the U.K. I was blessed with awesome riding weather. (I got caught in the rain almost every time I went out!) But the heated seats and grips made this a bit more comfortable, letting me avoid those cold and wet rider blues!"

What modifications would you make to this motorcycle?

"Changing things on this motorcycle would be purely down to personal preference - some of the things I like, others may not - and vice versa! That being said I would add vibration resist pads or some softer foot pegs, as for me I prefer slightly less engine shake. Due to this bike being an obvious colossal force, I feel like the exhaust note could be further enhanced... I would attach a SE Project slip-on just to amplify what's already there in my opinion.

Then just for brand loyalty more than anything, I'd add some Michelin Road 6's for that added extra grip at high speeds or wet conditions."

The Tiger 1200 GT Pro Review with Ryan - Overall Review

How would you rate the Tiger 1200 GT Pro overall?

"Overall, the bike's a fantastic power-house ready to send you flying down the motorway. I cannot preach more about how powerful this bike is, how great it is at handling and the number of features you'll be given at your fingertips. Triumph has definitely given this bike bundles of noticeable character and it will carry the Tiger 1200 name higher than it's been before - this could well and truly be the kingpin of larger adventure motorcycles. The best features for me were the crisp brakes, great pillion friendliness, modern technology and the rider presence you get from riding it. I felt great riding the Tiger 1200 and according to the misses... I looked the part too!"

Laguna Motorcycles Limited (which include multiple trading names: Laguna Motorcycles, Laguna Performance Centre, Laguna Triumph, Maidstone Honda, Maidstone Harley-Davidson® and Kent Motorcycles) is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Laguna Motorcycles Limited (which include multiple trading names: Laguna Motorcycles, Laguna Performance Centre, Laguna Triumph, Maidstone Honda, Maidstone Harley-Davidson® and Kent Motorcycles) to act as a credit broker, not a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders, and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a carefully selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. We act on behalf of the lender for this introduction and not as your agent. We are not impartial, and we are not an independent financial advisor.

Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next most suitable offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure a suitable finance agreement for you that enables you to achieve your financial objectives. If you purchase a vehicle, in the majority of cases, we will receive a commission from your lender for introducing you to them which is either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you purchase.

Different lenders pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement; however, you will be contributing towards the commission paid to us with the interest collected on your repayments. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will inform you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receive this commission. The exact amount of commission that we will receive will be confirmed prior to you signing your finance agreement.
